Keel Boat Gear
Helly Hansen Salt Jacket
Any sailing jacket will work that keeps you warm and the water out.
Helly Hansen Newport Pant (Cold Weather)
Any salopettes or sailing pants will work, these are really good for the price, you're gonna be leaning out over the water so stay warm
Boat Shoes
Any comfortable athletic shoe with traction and flexibility that you don’t mind getting wet. If it's cold weather you might want to wear hiking boots made from neoprene
Gill Pro Gloves long
It’s a personal preference for fingerless gloves or long gloves but these are highly recommended for both skipper and crew to protect your hands from rope burn and keep them warm.
Gill Hiking Shorts (warm weather)
Not required, most athletic shorts will suffice in warmer weather but if you want padding these are a better option.
Life Jackets
Stohlquist and Astral are good brands
Dinghy Gear
Gill or Zhik Boots or shoes (these are very warm)
Highly recommended for any cool or cold weather sailing
Spray Tops or Jackets
Nice for cooler weather and chilly water. Will not keep you dry if you capsize but will repel water splashes and protect from wind.
Sailing Bottoms/Dinghy Pants
Good for colder weather. Will not keep water out if you capsize but will keep you warm and dry from splashes.
Drysuits
These range from $300-$1,000 and are very optional. They are water tight suits that will keep you completely dry should you fall in the water during a capsize. They are sealed at the neck, wrist, and have foot booties to keep the water out. Many include a thermal layer to wear underneath to stay warm.
Sailing Gloves
Also highly recommended but not entirely required, heavy winds and wet ropes make it hard to control, trim and ease sheets
Life Jacket
Any type 3 PFD will work, Stohlquist and Gill are great brands but whatever is comfortable for you should work. We have some extras in the shed to borrow during practices.
